HPR mini projects

Post by HPR Pinball »

I would like to create this place for small projects collection :-)

First on the list, LV2000 upgrade for the deflection board from my vector game Star Wars.
It's a small board that replace the low voltage section for better reliability.
I lost the monitor a few weeks ago because of the usual failure of the low voltage section.
I decided to make this upgrade to fix this problem forever :)
Thanks to the arcade community, that dream arcade would never have happened without those dedicated people.

This is the lower left section in the pictures, you can see the burned resistor.

Inspiring!

Have to get this done on my Space Duel. Have had the LV2000 upgrade for years but still have picture. But slow monitor power-up and a bit shakey at times!

Another example of what happens when the pinball community contributes to the hobby.
Bought those fantastic Bally siderails from Chnillapoil a few weeks ago but they doesn't fit EBD84 because Bally
used bigger buttons and made the siderails holes bigger.
I brought the siderails to the shop where i work and enlarge them to the right dimension, Et Voilà !! :-)
Another mini project completed !!

ps: It's hard to understand why he doesn't sell tons of them, they look fantastic on the machine

Dragon's Lair to Space Ace conversion.
My great friend Elio loaned me his SA control panel and marquee.
On my side i bought an annonciator board from ebay and i already have in hand the SA laserdisc.

Swap the laserdisc inside the player, install the annonciator, swap the control panel and marquee and after a few tweaking of the control panel and switch cleaning, it work youhouuuu !! :-)

Star Wars pincushion corrector board.
Here's the short story.
Star Wars was manufactured with an amplifone monitor. Because of the curve of the monitor, there's a corrector
included in the monitor to compensate the curve. But because of the high failure of the amplifone monitor, operators changed them for the ealier K6100 vector monitor when amplifone failed. This monitor was used in game like Tempest but the correction for the curve of the monitor was included in the game boardset, not the monitor.

Star Wars + K6100 = no pincushion correction.
The great Clay Cowgill from multigame.com make a small board to make this correction. K6100 corrector board
It's not ''perfect'' but a lot better, geometry of the picture when playing look perfect :)

A really tiny project today. Bought original latest revision A3 roms for Space Ace. Tested and working great :-)
I'm not a fan of the ''enhanced'' version roms for SP and DL. I tried them for Dragon's Lair and the gameplay feel very linear, with the original roms the gameplay feel more various and challenging.

For your roms needs ask Steph. I bought many roms from him, he's THE man: info@hobbyroms.com

Enjoy !!

Small repair project !

Nice job! Mine is still a DL but has a Dexter in it so I can play either. Apparently I can get the Merlin board changed by Sean Wood and it'll play DL 2 as well. I still have all the laser gear but am saving them from wear.

Pas de neige a faire aujourd'hui, it's time for a small project !!
