The lure and the draw at certain junctures in life become undeniable and eventually overwhelming...
Time to go down the Rabbit hole once again...soon I suspect...
I blame Cooke...and all the others...
From Brewmanager forward...everyone knows who they are...
And Sparky, Drano and all of us...
Robert, mostly for you and I. It is time.
Tales will return.
More soon.

I think that I understand what you are saying my friend, especially the part about junctures and the undeniable and the overwhelming. These are definitely some of my favorite things in the life I have lived so far. Truth can not be quelled, especially when it follows you around in and through the shadows of your path while you happen to look around and catch a glimpse of the bastard through the spectrum of your gaze, yet turn away because it may be too much to deal with in that particular here and now. Regardless, those of us who understand this real life gig know that a truth that follows you will not just go away, or that it can even be avoided or duped in any significant way. You will likely run into it again and again until you turn to face it and wrestle with its' weight and message. A truth looking for you is a son of a bitch no matter how you choose to deal or not deal with it. It remains there in your shadow.
So we exist, and we continue to struggle to find meaning beyond what is proposed by the commercialism and self serving empty desires of what makes those far removed from the masses rich and stupid and bored. Contempt and desires often promote anger and sadness somewhere. There is so much more to being alive in America than the American dream. The values of capitalism are man made, and the truth is not. Yet I agree, it is easier to make lots of money and buy happiness than it is to pursue truth when it is constantly changing and may or may not bring you peace and enlightenment, especially if you are a moron.
Best to chase pigeons while drunk in the public square I would say.

A philosophy of doing shall rule until the days when I can no longer "do" arrive. Because when I am too old to adjust an AX relay or relieve a woman friend from sighing, there will only be memories to fill my time. So, the task at hand is to build that RRSP of memories in order to joyfully cushion the later stages of life.
Personally prefer the exceptional qualities lurking beneath any normal state of affairs. Alas, our day to day is being promoted as extraordinary via a world wide web largely fueled by the new dumb & followed closely by the latest breed of unscrupulous scoundrels & judas goats. So, god bless the fool hearted, the crazed, and the railroaded all in good measure for they will likely inherit what is left of the earth after the screwheads are done with it. God damn darwinian primates, why do they refuse to evolve, even after all we should have learned from being dumb savages for so long.

See, even MrHide can contribute intelligently and/or in the measure of his capacities to the Daily News depending on how you understand his enigmatic being.Mrhide wrote:

I even have proof from a reliable source that the beach boys would have spoken latin in the 1960's and/or Arabic in 2016.

Viva los Canadian Tracker. Lol[/quote]
10 Years ago when I only had 1 Pin and didn't know any of the Pinball Crazies around me or on the Forums I wanted to play as many Pins as I could. Like you I travel for work but manly around SW Ontario and I had a copy of this in my Laptop bag, I would plan my day so I would be by a location with a pin around lunch and go and play it. I love playing on location when I can the only let down was poorly maintained pins.
Pinball Tracker took me many places and Businesses I would have never set foot in.

For the first time since 1984 (and I was 10), I actually beat one of my favorite video games!?!
That is, I 'won' after countless continues and about an hour on the 412-in-1version of the classic scrolling shooter, 1942. Am I going to experience Capcom Closure?!?
Anyway, I had no idea how it would end and earned a pretty nifty 'Special Bonus'. Cool.
Game on!

Re: THE MAACA DAILY NEWS! Your daily read about YOU,the members!
Well, well, well. Time for some news from the front, and from this fouled, messy and corrupted desk to be sure.
Today, (or maybe tomorrow) daylight begins to increase at the rate of about a minute a day. Process remains a serious pain in the ass in my book during our darkest days, but goals however will continue to remain essential as to what drives me to stay alive. I am like a dumb ass salmon making it up river again. There is nothing else to do now except swim like a bastard.
Once again, it is important to remain hopeful and lie to yourself if need be (or at least maintain the gumption necessary to go on) despite all the non-sense of our rapidly accelerated times causing imbalance of a magnitude never seen before, and to stop raging about the dying of the light. And we all know by now that I am an expert at raging against the god damn demising light of our existence.
What is there left to do ?
Hugs,
Rob

Re: THE MAACA DAILY NEWS! Your daily read about YOU,the members!
Amen. A great gathering last night for the last Thursday of the season at Bluffs in Scarberia.
Next on deck is to put that very Wiggler in the video on legs at Bluffs for the next group to enjoy it for next week.
Someone asked me about demographics at Bluffs and here is last nights analysis. Still on average between 22 and 26 of us every Thursday, forever. Sometimes 16, sometimes 32 but regularly 20 to 26 good people attending.
Demographics of middle aged balding men has not increased much. There was about 16 of us, and give or take, there are still that many of us. Last night was 25-26 in total and the other 10-12 people were wives, girlfriends, sons and daughters.
There are a couple of younger men in their 20's + 30's joining us as well. As the middle aged male populace wanes, the next generation replacing us isn't so bad, since most of the growth in this hobby is from women and children participating.
This was all made possible, starting with what you saw in the video above from the Crane building. Thank you my friend. Not too shabby a legacy perhaps between that space and the North Star. Progress and good times and more daylight ahead.
Cheers. Salut.
More soon.
Next on deck is to put that very Wiggler in the video on legs at Bluffs for the next group to enjoy it for next week.

Who likes winning a race? I know I do!
Last Saturday night, I was the FASTEST driver I could be!
... and I wasn't even wearing a seatbelt!
Again, it cost me quite a few 'quarters' to continue after losing often ... but it's a great idea to straighten up after being beaten and hop back in the race and keep tryin' and tryin'! ... imho.
Admittedly, Super Sprint is more fun when you're actually playing people. Especially people who know the game well. Work up a sweat. Seriously. Great times.
... and more wrenches per track!
Game on!

It's all about us in the modern age.
We watch, We do? We tell it all !
But; do we really get it all done:
In a certain fashion I suppose >

Re: THE MAACA DAILY NEWS! Your daily read about YOU,the members!
I am at a god-damn crossroads once again these days, and so I am looking for inspiration. When this need arises in me I hunker down and read alot of books, feeding the mind which is slowly and inevitably turning to mush.
I hope that the quote below makes us feel extraordinary once again instead of feeling like god damn sitting ducks stuck in a life where we are just waiting and letting the days go by pointlessly without feeling like we have a handle on the time elapsing.
Lately, it feels like I am getting beaten down by the ordinary and stupid as I too go through the routine of my life, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I will find a way to jump start these pathetic doldrums very soon, and it ain't about pinball for me anymore.
“Occasionally, there arises a writing situation where you see an alternative to what you are doing, a mad, wild gamble of a way for handling something, which may leave you looking stupid, ridiculous or brilliant -you just don't know which. You can play it safe there, too, and proceed along the route you'd mapped out for yourself. Or you can trust your personal demon who delivered that crazy idea in the first place.
Trust your demon.”
Roger Zelazny
“Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout with some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.”
George Orwell
Good night Nellie.

Une règle suivi guéri de tout. A rule respected can cure anything.
