I wanted to take the time to write a well deserved post here... It's content must not be lost in the shuffle of the daily news. It deserves better than that.
On Monday, I did something I swore I would never do again... I visited Alouette! Yes... pigs have flown. But then again, I can smile and say with certainty with the grey hairs that I have acquired that nothing is certain, nor set in stone. Of course, I needed some parts, but most of all I needed to see with my own eyes if RAB was OK.
I walked in and I swear to God, nothing has changed. I walk in and no one is up front and it is dark. The same backglasses hang up on the wall... the place is full of redemption games and oddball vids. Only 2 pins though, Tri-Zone and another I forgot. I was just blown away how much it was literally a time capsule. I even walked in the back and recognized some games on the shelves that were there last time, such as a SubRoc. But it wasn't the most shocking thing...
I then saw Robert.... and the smile and hearty handshake I got took me right back to Pitt Street. He was all smiles and looked... ALIVE. Like a kid on his first job, full of ideas and projects behind mischievous eyes. He took me out back and showed me around. He showed me a Galaxy bingo out back that he fixed that looked ABSOLUTELY gorgeous... (I have to get a price for that thing later... it was that nice!). I was so enthralled by his amazing mood that it took everything in my power to leave so that I would not miss my flight. But I will go back to help him out on a day off, just to help out. But I left there, but not before making sure that I told him something I sincerely mean...
I am loyal to ROBERT for all my parts. Regardless of where he is.
The soul of pinball in Montréal is alive and well, folks. Step up to the plate and support him in this.
I can't speak for everyone Rob, but I have your back. And I promise to be back.
... Best spring ever. Flowers, trees, ideas, smiles, projects... all in bloom.
Sparky, live from Edmonton.

Popped over last week to pick up a part and talk to Rob as well. Great to have a knowledgeable person out there for the collector community!

Sparky, I am with you on this one. I will patronize Robert for parts anywhere he works.
I went there last Friday for a part he said he had in stock and Rob was beaming. I never saw him smile this wide. It was absolutely amazing.
It was like he was another man. He made me feel extra special going above the line of duty. It was great. I will definitely go back.

@ Spitskull and MrHide - you guys have to start reading the Daily News more often and stop missing staff meetings. The Daily News is our newspaper. Yes, I know the posts can be long and weird occasionally, but so is life itself. The content depends on who is reporting I guess, we make it what it is by contributing. All good.
Be well, spring is here and it feels like summer already, weird.
