Now the not so fun part... look like i have a lot of switch matrix problems...

1- when drop target #2 is drop, it’s activate the loop bonus, after that, the regular bonus and the game switch to ball #2. Behave like a lost the ball when drop target 2 is drop

2- this one is bizarre. If the right 3 drop bank is drop and i try to start a game, it’s reboot. Start button reboot the game. If the drop are up, i can start a game. All three drop need to be drop to reboot.

Already change all the diode on the big drop target bank and the diode in the drop target 2 row (grey wire) Change also diode on drop target five row. (White-green wire)
I also change the the start button diode, slam tilt diode and tilt diode. I cut the capacitor between the tilt
I will continue to change diode... will do the 2 3 drop bank first and all the diode related with the trought
If you have and idea... i’m open!

Yeah, switch-matrix bugs are a butt-pain to debug: You have my sympathies, Gino!

It really sounds like you have a short in one of the columns or rows of the switch-matrix. It can be a shorted diode as you have suspected, or a wiring problem. Just to get some more information, have you tried disconnecting the Molex connector that comes from the coin-door? This would isolate the game-start button and slam-tilt from the MPU. Similarly, you can try to disconnect J3 on the MPU, as that is the cabinet switch-matrix connection, and ideally if that is pulled, you won't get any tilts/game-start or coin-ups.

If some of the issues persist after disconnecting the MPU's J3 cabinet switch connector as suggested by Grant above,
then indeed look for a potential miswiring of the playfield switch matrix.
Or, switch matrix short to GI.
See my older post on another Stern here:
https://www.maaca.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=18271&p=155916

UPDATE:
1- Ensure the Credit/start switch is wired OK (and not physically/mechanically or electrically to the nearby SLAM switch).
2- Also check for any switch/diode possibly shorting to ground inside the cash door.
3- Go to switch test mode, and with no switch activated (all drop targets up, no ball in the saucers or outhole),
manually activate the playfield switches one at a time and record their numbers. Compare to the expected switch numbers in the manual.
Any funky unexpected numbers for a row or column? This should help you pinpoint the trouble area.

Bonne chance!
-Sylvain.

Thanks Grant and sylvain

I already change the diode on the start target, tilt and slam switch. I have compare wiring with my other stern and everytinhg is ok. Also check for any touchching inside the coin door, but will check again.

I have couple question...

the only diode i didn't cange on the grey row is the one from the Top Left Drop traget (accessibility problem) ... this one is in the same row drop target #2 (the one that make the problem happen)... TLD is in the same column of the loop bonus drop target (activated with the #2 drop)... this one is in the same row the left outhole switch (the one that activated the bonus count and switch to ball#2) Is it possible a diode problem goes from column to row... like that?

Is a short in the GI can be anywhere, or I,m better to check around the switch that give me problem?
