The Borderland Sparky pool... how long will he resist!!

The first rule of Borderland is that you don't talk about Borderland... LOL

How long do you think Sparky will last before buying another pinball?

24hrs, tops. He is gonna star on an episode of Hoarders.

The Borderland Sparky pool... how long will he resist!!

Postby Sparky » Thu Feb 07, 2019 3:34 pm

So... it seems that the boys in the Borderland group don't seem to believe that I can hold on from buying a pinball for the rest of the year. LOL... SO... I thought I would make a pool!!!

Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen!!! LOL

...I never confirmed that I was going. ;)

I am still on the fence about it. My last trip there 2 years ago was epic. I had the big van and it was a great time. Right down to the suicidal turkey in Ontario. LOL But now, I have no vehicle to my name. And going to Allentown with my company vehicle would not be too ethical. So I am less tempted by the experience again.

So far, nothing purchased. Many sold. 10 out of 14 votes are wrong. Soon 2 more. And then 1 more for July 1st, which will be easy to achieve as I am travelling extensively soon. And since I voted 2020, I guess I will win.

I am free.

Only a fool would let pride stand in the way of the acquisition of a good machine. :geek:

Nice try. Ain't happening. Lol

Since the start of the pool, I have sold 8 machines. And soon more will follow the same route.

I just got over it all I guess. Pinball is nothing but work to me. I have machines to get done so I just don't play anymore. I try to enjoy myself but in the end, it just ends up being more work.

So, I repair. I restore. I play to test. Any meeting I attend is to see friends. Not to play.

Case in point, I have some of my own machines that were played last at the MPL meeting at my place last December. They haven't been turned on since except a few.

I turned on Mystic 2 weeks ago, and it didn't play. I left it as such. Didn't diagnose it for another week, and I have not even repaired it yet. Was too busy fixing and moving gameS for the show. More work. The 1 game rule didn't apply. And I have to pick them up one by one this weekend. Yet more work.

All work and no play make Sparky... a technician. Just like my day job. I approach pinballs now like I do a construction loader. With a systematic approach in order to fix it, and I walk away when done. No emotional attachment. I like it that way. It is a box with relays, switches, circuits and assemblies. Nothing more.

It is what it is. We move on.
