Hi!
Working on my nephews Kiss pinball.
Have done the following:
Replaced with new MPU board,Power supply board,Solenoid driver board,Lamp driver board and all displays.
Have repinned ALL plugs.
Oh I do have switch S8 and S32 set on.
Have replaced all electrolytics and the two pots as well as reflowed the pins on the sound board.
I now have everything working properly except I have no sound.
I do get a noise only output to the speaker when I adjust the volume pot.
Any ideas where I should go from here?
There is three replacement boards available I see, one from Big Daddy which is a used board, one from Nvramweebly which is a new board and the latest from Geeteoh that has all the bells and whistles but a little pricey!
I'm leaning towards a new board but if anyone thinks it's worth my while to get the old one going let me know.
Any help appreciated!
Jim

Re: Kiss Sound board problems
Did the sound work initially before replacing every other board and repinning?
Any chip burning hot on the sound board? (if so it is probably bad).
I seem to recall that the Sustain potentiometer's adjustment is fairly critical to get sound too.
I would also check voltages according to the diagram, jumpers according to installed prom (there is a table for this in the Kiss manual), double-check repinned/connectors wiring pinout to the MPU and sound board (in case of a mistake) and trace digital and sound pulses as per the sound board diagram first, before attempting getting a replacement for the sound board.
Good luck!

Re: Kiss Sound board problems
Just a shout out to Sylvain!
First I think it was initially some of the male pins on the sound board had cold solder cracks but I repaired them and repinned all the connectors at the same time.
I should have tried the board after resoldering the male pins, but I didn't.
What happened after was that after checking continuity of the plug pins from the sound board I had missed one of the ones from being properly crimped ( one of the ones that are doubled up).
Fixed the pin and all is good.
Many thanks once again Sylvain.
Regards
Jim
