Post by Azatotht »

Out of curiosity, is there a replacement available for Gottlieb A16 boards ? (#MA-940 and #MA-942)

For reference: https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/MA-940

Non je pense pas qu'il soit si pire mais avant de m'aventurer je voulais voir ce qui était disponible.

C'était pas des boards chers à la base je pense.

So these are kinda rare from what I can see.

Will be looking at rebuilding mines and I have a question for the technical people.

One of the board has a 4-Ohm, 5%, 7w resistor that is not available anymore.

This ->

Can it be replaced by a ceramic resistor like this one: https://www.tedss.com/2021011500

Also what's the best place to order these parts, I usually use Digikey but there might be a better place ?

Thanks.

To answer your question, yes - same value, same tolerance, same power dissipation
(or use a 10W slightly larger, with same other specs).
Check if the replacement resistor is 'flameproof'.

I often order from Digikey.ca
If they do not have it, Sayal in Toronto or eBay would be good possible alternate choices.
(Montreal used to have Addison or associated electronic stores with many surplus components available)

Bonne chance!

Thank you Sylvain, so as long as values are the same and that it is flameproof it is good. Understood.

The resistance should be equal.
The tolerance (+ or - 5%) can be equal or smaller, or it can be higher if you are able to measure that resistor and the actual resistance is within range.
The power (7W) can be equal or higher, though if you go higher the resistor tends to get bigger.

Bon ben j’ai enfin trouvé les résistances et je les ai changées.

Mes flashers fonctionnent maintenant et un des deux tubes de lumières. Celui qui était cassé marche pas alors y’a autre chose pour celui-là.

Good enough.
