So. The original LE sold for 7600$. They've changed nothing. BOM is the same with newer electronics. Obviously overhead has increased dramatically at Stern. Bottom line is that they programmed 3 new modes and a few new songs. However the game remains the same. "more robust" is marketing lingo that means nothing.

So for 3 new modes, some addressable LEDs, and different cab stickers, they've essentially doubled the price. Insanity.

All the sheep running to buy a LE because they somehow think it'll be increasing in value are in for a surprise. In 4-5 years out comes the "Farewell tour edition" LE. Stern killed the LE FOMO. That's what happens when you get a Disney boy CEO. No vision beyond maximizing short term profits.

Works well for Disney - releasing incessant LE versions of trinkets. I don't think that translates to luxury toys in this price range. Maybe I'm full of shit and will be proven wrong but I don't think so...

I gotta agree with Mike here. This is an obvious cash grab. But... it will sell. Stern knows that it's market is very dedicated, kind of like Apple. Whatever they release pretty much sells.

If a carmaker took an existing model, changed the headlights, rounded à few curves, and updated the interior, but added 50% of the price, people would not buy it. But Stern knows it's a niche market, and also see people paying stoopid money, way over MSRP for a used pin with 100 plays, so, they are cashing in.

Logical move. But yes, a lazy one.

And just keep banking on Stern releasing Disney-owned themed, rock band or vintage movie pins.

Bands? I.would not be surprised to see a Van Halen, or Megadeth, or any older rock band. It appeals to the gen-x'ers, the main clientele. Heck, with Aerosmith retiring, I would not be surprised to see a "Farewell Edition" pop up as an LE. Lol

Probably yet another Marvel theme, for sure. They did X-Men twice. So, Blade Fantastic 4, Thunderbolts... who knows.

Star Wars? Hmm... dunno. Been overly done at this point, but who knows. They may release another. If there is money to be made...

But older movie theme? I would not be surprised to see Indiana Jones revisited.
But I am still holding my breath for a Friday the 13th pin. Lol
FLIPPERS, JOYSTICKS & ELBOWS UP!

I'd love to see that too, but doubt it will happen. The licensing would be a nightmare, as the owner of Friday the 13th license doesn't own the rights to Jason Voorhees and vice versa.... or at least that's how I understand it. Basically, it's a mess and apparently why we haven't seen any new movie in quite a long time

I think it looks beautiful. At least the LE does. I don't understand the Premium aesthetics. The colours don't jive for me.
The most exciting aspect of this for me is that it makes me think games like Tron, LOTR, and TSPP might get Remastered editions too.
backglasses wanted: Star-Jet, Fairy, Star Trek (1971 Gottlieb)
marquees wanted: Roller Aces, Quiz Dragon, Strider, Varkon, Dark Planet, R-Type (w/ship), Quantum, Ninja (Sega)

Yeah, I think the LE looks stunning, but the greenish backglass on the Premium is pretty meh.
