Bally Kiss Right Bottom Gate Question

Post by jim43bob »

Hi Everyone!
Working on my nephews Kiss, just flipped over to a new CPR playfield and it looks fantastic!
Had a few hiccups ( broken wire and staple into base of one of the GI bulbs) but all is good.
The question I have is on the lower right gate.
From what I can see is when the game is turned on the solenoid (#10) is energized and closes the gate through A3J5-7 Black/red wire from Q17 which it does and the lamp "Open Gate When Lit" is on through A5J2-6 Black/White from Q30.
I'm guessing that the lamp is lit and the gates opens through some action on the playfield that the MPU tells the gate to open and light the lamp.
On the gate there is mounted one half of a leaf switch with no wire soldered to it and it looks like there never was.
My question actually is:Should there be a switch there and if so what about a wire to feed it?
As I can see no where in the schematics if there is supposed to be a switch there at all?
Any help appreciated!!!!

Looking at the manual, there is no wire connection to that 'switch' on that bottom right gate assembly.
The top center rollover appears to control the gate ('Opens Gate when lit').
I assume Bally reused that assembly from another older machine that needed the switch - the 'unused' switch might also help with the return (spring) tension too.
Good luck!

Sylvain is right (as he always is) as I just noticed the same thing on a Harlem Globetrotters a couple days ago.
Looks like the half switch is just to help pull the gate back.

Many thanks Sylvain!
My nephew has had Kiss for 30 years from when he was younger and use to help out a route operator in Hamilton.
He got the machine when they closed and was in pieces and I had been working on it for a little while not sure what was original or changed.
Only think left for me to do now that is up and running is doing a repaint on the cabinet ( next year)
Many thanks
Always appreciate the help I find on MAACA!
