Re: Classic Playfield Reproductions is undergoing a restructuring and downsizing
That’s big news.
I’m glad to see that they’ll be continuing to reproduce playfields. I guess the whole “on demand” thing that they were hyping with the new printing tech never really panned out, if they’re going to allow titles to be “sold out” after a launch period.
Once they stopped screen printing, I was really disappointed with the quality of the printing, especially since many of the issues were related to misaligned or blocked print heads. There was nothing worse than ordering a $300 plastics set and having it be missing a line of magenta every 6mm, and then having to argue with CPR to get them even acknowledge the misprint.
That happened to me more than once, and it kept me away for several years.
That said, they’ve come a long way: their laser cuts are clean, and the print quality is much higher than it initially was. I got a set of Mata Hari plastics recently that are impeccable.
Despite my previous misgivings, I hope they succeed despite the changes. They are invaluable to the pinball community.

Follow up: hey folks, it’s a fire sale over there right now. They’re aggressively discounting playfields and other items in order to clear out their space, so if there’s a project that you’ve been on the fence about, you’d better order it now. By the time you want to do it, you might not be able to.

Don't feel too bad, Phil. Everything worthy is sold out. Wish I had the opportunity to grab a Nine Ball playfield. Such is life.
