Very relatable, and I hope you can make that transition and enjoy it!Sparky wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:14 pmSo, I am actually looking to exit the rat race. I am working on becoming a teacher. I find myself having a better sense of fulfillment working wih kids, teens and young adults, than dealing with " adults" always wanting more every day. Lol. I am sure many can relate.
I ain't dead yet, far from it. But, I do realize that this rollercoaster ride has peaked and is now going down the hill a bit. I rather enjoy the ride on the way, instead of realizing I should have enjoyed the ride more as it begins to come to a stop. Lol
also, happy that Sylvain did mention PEI's pinball joint.

Re: THE MAACA DAILY NEWS! Your daily read about YOU,the members!
Hell of a week. I just dis à few kms. Lol
I dis à quick round trip to P.E.I. in order to train people in my day job. Not sure I should describe how to diagnose heavy machinery electronics, or diesel engines. If interested, come meet me one day and I will bore you with the intricacies of a high-pressure common rail fuel system. Lol
On the way back Thursday afternoon, I stopped at an old friend's place. For those who know the Toronto pinball scene, Chris Yuill was a staple at Bluffs. Smack dab in the middle of covid, he and his family had enough of Toronto. Sold the house, and moved to Fredericton NB. I visit whenever I can. Always a treat to see him!!
Friday, headed back home. Woke up to pee at 3am, and decided that I was up. Packed up and drove. Got home at 1pm, took a shower, did some meetings for work and headed to the Montreal Pinball Arcade for rest and relaxation. Played a lot of Baby Pacman. Still chasing my 820000pt high score.
Saturday? Did jack shit. Lol.
Today? Picked up an empty Tron cab. I will try to save this one. Needs kind of everything., and cab was slightly cut on sides (dunno why) but otherwise very clean and solid.
After getting it in Gatineau, headed to Alfred at the Pinball Museum. Rob helps me out a lot, so I was paying it back. He is renovating the place and it needed work on the sump pumps. So, I installed a basin, instead of pumps laying in the mud and gravel.
2 more to go. Yeah... not really hobby related, but felt good to help out a nice guy, and contribute to help save a nice place to play games soon.
All in all, a satisfying week.

Well, I am now faced with a proverbial fork in the road. As much as I am well paid, I have cone to realize that I cannot maintain the pace I have in my career long term.
So... a job offer came in today. To become a teacher. Considering it very seriously. Heck of a change...
More on that move soon, if I go for it.

Correct.
I navigated to the Caterpillar web site, but did not Google it.
So my browser cache is scanned and sorted to send me specific ads.
I'm not really surprised, but rather reminded that Big Brother is ALWAYS watching.

Is that the mail-order bride some member was getting ads for on MAACA for after making some "un-usual" search queries ?

This is called Google Analytics. It is done with participation from the web sites you visit.Steph wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 7:59 pmCorrect.

Google gives them an incentive to participate through site statistics so everybody does.
They do not scan your browser cache. The way it works is through cookies, beacon URLs and hidden pixels.
That explains why they ask you if you want to use cookies on their site.
They are asking you if they can spy on you. The twist is they need cookies to make the site work normally
but they make it hard to say yes to that and no to the spying.

Re: THE MAACA DAILY NEWS! Your daily read about YOU,the members!
Jesus... where to begin. Lol. It's been a whirlwind the last 2 weeks.
While in Italy, I got a call from a local trade school. I came back on Tuesday Aug.6th, and gave in my 2 weeks notice a day later.
So... foe the last 2 weeks, I worked 2 full-time jobs. I finished last Friday. Needless to say, I slept all weekend.
This week is the first week with one job. Lol. No contract yet, but we will see. I am booked for teaching a fuel injection class until Sept.11th. Going very well!
Next weekend, I should be more rested and relaxed, and will get back into fixing stuff. I will have more free time to do so.
I may also have to sell some projects, as money will be a bit tighter. But no rush for now. I have a few lined up that I will finish, such as Chris Silver's and Goldmeister's mame cabs, Warlords 4-player, Demolition Derby 4-player, Spy Hunter, Defender, Card Whiz, Excalibur, the Atari pins... lol
Never stop until you're dead. Lol
Still lovin' it!

I got asked to present at Pinball Expo 40 and I've finally solidified that and booked my flight and hotel. Spending over $1k to go give a presentation on pinball ancestry is totally on brand for this absurd and delightful hobby!
I'm getting super hyped to experience Expo for the first time, and with this major anniversary edition to boot.

I was looking at their website, and thought about going but I'm not a seminar guy or anything, just want to flip the silver ball. Decided the 2 grand I'd spend can be put to better use pinball-wise.....
Hope everyone has a blast.
