Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
A bit of cleanup yesterday, trying to change the vibe up.
- Brought Spy Hunter downstairs. Christ... heavy beast.
- Brought Lectronamo downstairs for repair for a customer. Needs updating and a good tune-up.
- Tore into my uncle's Laser Ball. The machine was in a basement flood and I need to go over it all. It actually survived well physically, but the electronics didn't like the moisture.
The Spy Hunter has Road Riot 4WD in it. I have everyhting to restore it. But I did get Road Riot to run... so... I do have a cabinet I can transfer the Road Riot gear into. A Jaleco Big Run, that is dead. Road Riot is a fun little driving game. Would be worth saving the gear.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
finally dug out the beast to attempt once again to get it up & running!
Finally got it to boot - dead coil on one of the Game Relays. Huzzah!
Wired up a temporary control panel until my Wood Guy make me a new one. Busy tracking down little gremlins, cleaning & gapping switches, rebuilt the score reels, etc.
Unit works great! Replaced most of the headless players with players from a donor Running Unit. Will have to try printing up new ones. The background also needs some love.
Beautiful machine... eventually.

Trucking right along...
Reprinted playfield figures & applied with glue stick. Next will be replacing the background.
Upgraded Batting Unit with more robust version from donor machine
Larger hole drilled into playfield to accommodate the beefier unit. Added Speed Control for the bat & even saved the label.
Bat looks great. Added a Handle for lifting the playfield. My Wood Guy has made wooden bats for me to tinker with.
Fully working & playable. Now for the ascet... asthethic... the looks.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Had an issue with SWE1 where I noticed the coin door and start button lights weren't turning on anymore, and was getting a warning that a fuse F111 Lamp Matrix A was blown when going into the service menu.
Pulled the playfield out of the cabinet while still being connected (Pin 2k is so amazing), and the led beside F111 was off. Swapped fuse, instant burn again. Disconnected the Lamp Matrix, and the fuse burned up again, so issue is on the power driver board.
Pulled out the power driver board, and two of the big power rectifying diodes right after F111 were shorted. lifting a leg on each of them identified the shorted one. Didn't have them on hand, so once I received my Digikey order, put in a new diode, and a new fuse, and redid a whole bunch of cold looking solder joints, and game was fixed.

it sucks big time and killed Williams. Don't even try.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Hah, it wasn't what killed Williams, nice try though.

I was referring to the whole slew of innovations that went on during that time period that got added to pin2k, including some that haven't been used since, for example the little flap that prevents the balls from dumping out when you lift the playfield. A lot of thought went into improving serviceability. Having the machine tell you what incandescent bulbs were burned out, putting leds beside fuses to show at a glance which ones were open, having a bracket on the open coin door to rest the playfield, t-modling on the front of the cabinet where the playfield scrapes along, adding an extra lock so that locations can take off the glass to remove a stuck ball without having access to the coin box, displaying an image of the playfield to show you where a stuck switch is located, standard ethernet networking for tournaments and leaderboards, a planned barcode reader to identify tournament players, being able to use the translite as a temporary mirrored glass when servicing the playfield, being able to install game updates in the field without swapping roms, etc.
Whether or not you like the two games that ultimately came out, there's no denying a lot of innovation went into them.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Fixed up another one today. New flipper assemblies, some board work, installed LEDs on GI. Still need to install some new connectors on power supply, and shop it out but otherwise now plays great.
Space is a premium, so this one sadly has to go. Will be asking 1500, if anyone is wondering.
Also progressing on 2 mame builds, and Cait's World Series. And rebuilding 2 monitors for fun.
Lol busy busy...

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
I'm super hyped for World's Series!
With my recent selling, I've made some strides in getting my gameroon to my next ideal lineup, and World's Series is certainly part of that ideal lineup. Most extraneous games will be gone by the new year. Then I think I have three more things to sell, like the 21 slot machine trade stimulator, a 1950s Japanese smart ball, and a very old restored pachinko.
A few more items still to be fixed, and there's one more trade stimulator I'm looking to buy. After that maybe I can get serious about saving up for a Godzilla pro? One day

Going to update/link dump on everything that's been happening since Expo.
I've been slowed by health issues but my eremeka project is still being refined, growing slowly, and continues to be awesome. Now over 4900 entries.

I wrote about my home arcade and things moving in and out. I'm happy that I have conceived of what the final setup in my space is going to look like. A few more things are desired, a few more things will go, and a few things need to be fixed / upgraded to better copies.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Ordered some parts for my Storm23 Lightning upgrade (Arduino, WAV trigger board, connectors).
Since I could not get my hands on an already built kit I have decided to build it myself.
The pcb and some others parts will be on their way soon as well.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
On the weekend I finally started working on 2 of Cait's Arrangeballs that I've been waiting for some free time to tackle. Simple 1970's relay circuits (EM) but still challenging as there are no schematics. They often re-purposed PCBs and everything is hand built/wired. One of the basket case PCBs I am working on has 3 breaks that were re-glued/stitched and a grafted motor PCB that was just cut from something else and glued on lol. Would love to post pics but I am finally running into the same issue many others have. Server error when I upload regular/plain JPGs.
