different favicon when unread messages are available

In Outlook, Discord, Teams and Slack, the favicon or taskbar icon changes when there is an unread message available.
It would be nice to have that feature in maaca. This way we would not have to click "Board Index" all the time to check if there is a new message.

I'm not against that idea but it would have to be configurable and off by default because I don't want to overload the server with ajax calls in the background.

Here's my suggestion: if you work on this yourself or with other people and come up with a working phpBB extension for it, I will install it on the board. Do some research first because an extension may already exist.

phpBB is well made, you can develop extensions for it providing that you follow the guidelines, of course.

For any other improvement ideas as well, this could be done. Just let me know your ideas before working on them and then we could improve the site together.

I have a test forum that we can use to test ideas and code before pushing it on the main website.
