Songs that give you an arcade vibe...
Dave W and I were driving to the Montreal Pinball Arcade last night and the subject of music came up. I always had a list of songs that remind me of arcades and games. Do you have some?
Of course, anything racking by Journey gives out a vibe, but here are mine and an explanation as to why.
Eyes of a Stranger by the Payolas. A fave of mine for 40+ years. It just screams 80's at me, and takes me back every time to playing Wizard of Wor at the campground as a kid, with that song playing on the stereo. I still to this day put the song on when I turn WoW on...
Time Stands Still by Rush. Self explanatory. Takes me back every time to Borderland and MPL meetings in the fall... " Summer's going fast, nights growing colder... children growing up, old friends growing older..." ... indeed.
Staying Awake all Night by Krokus. This has become Dave and I's Friday-night-at-the-arcade theme song. Lol. Rob would play this homemade compilation CD every Friday or so, and that song was on it. It just clicked for us. Lol. It is a staple on my playlist. Lol
So, what songs take you back into a gaming vibe?

Anything by The Cars ( "My Best Friend's girl" in particular )
I've also been partial to The Art of Noise, especially Paranoimia featuring Max Headroom.
[ Nothing screams 80's like Ma-Ma-Max Headroom ]

BTW, this topic has been discussed elsewhere as well...

I'm not even the biggest fan of Nirvana, but every time I step up to an NBA Jam or Mortal Kombat, I have flashbacks of their songs blasting on the jukebox at the Forum arcade on St-Caths

My basement arcade is definitely built in the post-neon cyber revival. This is the playlist that usually comes on when the blacklights do: Arcade Nights & Long Drives
Sharing my space with: Meteor, Tag Team, Dragon, Centaur II, Middle Earth, Xenon, Captain Fantastic, Dolly Parton, Star Trip, Street Fighter cab w/Premium 8

Re: Songs that give you an arcade vibe...
When I was a kid there the campground was owned by my uncle and there was a disco console where the arcade was.
My older cousin was playing "The number of the beast" and "Bark at the moon" albums all the time when the console was not in use. Those 2 albums brings back a lot of good memories and arcade vibes to me.
There was also a jukebox in the same room and I remember hearing 'The safety dance' by Men without hats and 'Electric Avenue' by Eddy Grant a lot (also remember this one from MrHide's basement but that's another story ).

What... no one mentioned Pinball Wizard by The Who, Elton John, or other covers?
Looking for Bally Star-Jet, The Wiggler, Williams Magic City, Grand Lizard, Swords of Fury, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron, and a few others.
