How to repair a broken classic Stern spinner

Hey everyone, I broke the spinner on my Lightning and while I will replace it, I am wondering if someone ever fixed this ?
Is it fixable ? Is it even worth trying ?
The wire goes around the spinner and is sandwiched between the metal parts. How do you even pry this open ? Can an already formed replacement wire be found ?
