Stern Spike 2 lifetime total plays, watchout

Post by Azatotht »

I always thought all Spike 2 lifetime total play count was accurate but it is not the case.

Iron Maiden for example:

V1.06.0 - January 9, 2019

- Added LIFETIME count to Standard Audit #16 "Total Plays"

So a machine that was manufactured past January 2019 should have had lifetime count installed from factory.

For Star Wars I think it was v1.05.

Keep that in mind folks, don't be fooled by a reseller.

Anyone that uses play counts as a basis for wear and value is not very smart anyway. Play counts can be easily tampered with even on a Stern Spike 2 or 3. There are many ways but for example if you swap CPUs the play count will not be accurate either.

The funniest is when you see some noob come on a forum and list their WPC as low play count. FFS.

Agreed, but in that particular case seller is using the play count to push the game as mint-perfect, which it isn't, of course.

I am able to see the difference but some person may not, just a little word of advice, that's all.
