Re: Here's the place to discuss EM pins
Why the change? I appreciate all you guys do for this forum, but I myself think I prefer all pin stuff in one place, I like to see it all, EM and SS.

I always just use 'View active topics' so nothing gets over-looked anyway. I don't see the segregation.Atomicboy wrote:Why the change? I appreciate all you guys do for this forum, but I myself think I prefer all pin stuff in one place, I like to see it all, EM and SS.

Hard to follow the global pin aspect if everything is segmented...

Me too, i NEVER browse the sections other than the for sale forum.TwilightZone wrote:Agree. Just click "View active topics", top left under the date and you will have all the latest threads.
If there is a moving arrow, left of the thread, this means there are new posts since the last time youV'e read it and if you click directly on the arrow, it will get you directly to the first post you havent read... pretty cool with the long threads.
We are doing these changes in reaction to the comments and suggestions we get from members. Since everybody have different opinions it pleases some while others doesnt like it. It is very hard to please everyone but we're trying.
Posts should be moved around a bit over weekend as we try to fix the database issue, i am considering to reduce the forums number now that everyone agrees with us that there are too many. I hear and understand the complains.

Re: Here's the place to discuss EM pins
I like having the separate section. There are only a few sections I care to follow and I like having the information segregated by topic.
Re: Here's the place to discuss EM pins
I am a dedicated EM guy. SS leaves me cold. I was at Playdium and figured I'd give some SS games a try. I didn't enjoy it one bit. Playfields too dark, ball disappears half the time, too much noise, and too many points. To each his own I guess. I think the separation is good. There are those who don't care a hoot about EM and vice versa. Segregation is good.

Re: Here's the place to discuss EM pins
Any EM techs have insight into this problem?
I have a 1975 Gottlieb Sure Shot pin. It won't start a game. Doesn't matter if it's in free play or set to accept coins, no dice. Everything looks in pretty good condition, and looks like it SHOULD work. The back panel lights up when turned on, but that's it. All wires seem to be pretty good, no apparent relay issues, or fuse problems. Where would you start looking?

Re: Here's the place to discuss EM pins
Hi Nik,
In order for an EM pinball machine to reset and start properly and reliably,
all the contact stacks need to be tight, contacts gaps properly adjusted, and contacts clean on all relays
in the cabinet, under the playfield and in the backbox.
Also, all steppers need to ratchet up and down properly and their contacts properly adjusted and clean
(steppers are often gummed-up and not resetting properly in old as-is EMs that have not yet been gone through).
Do not use any spray-on contact cleaner in there, not only they usually do not help or make things worse,
they are often dangerously flammable, given the usual sparks on-going inside an EM during operation.
In Gottlieb EMs, the interlock relays (AX, BX, CX) and Reset, Game Over, Tilt, etc. relays contacts adjustments are critical
for proper operation of the game. Pictures will not really show us too much with regards to any contact issue.
One thing we can see for sure from your pictures is the relay at the bottom of the cabinet that appears crooked compared to the others,
because its base is not clipped-in its proper position on the metal support bracket. Start by putting this relay in properly, with a clip
(the clip for that relay might still be inside the cabinet somewhere if you are lucky).
There are tons of useful info on EMs, what to do and what not, here:
